Baseball & Softball Team Formation Policy
T-Ball, Machine Pitch A, Machine Pitch AA, & Coach Pitch AA teams are formed by the Player Agent. The Player Agent first accomodates coach and teammate requests to the best extent possible and then secondly groups the remaining players by school and/or neighborhood.
AAA, Majors, Intermediate 50/70, & Juniors players attend an evaluations day and receive a numeric score for each of the stations such as pitching, fielding, running, throwing and hitting. The information collected is then used to create a draft order whereby coaches partake in the draft selection process for both the AAA and Majors teams.
To help insure parity and healthy competition for the teams the following tangibles factors are taken into consideration:
- All players in AAA and Majors go through evaluations
- AAA and Majors teams are redrafted each Spring therefore team assignments are not guaranteed
- Managers for AAA and Majors teams have at least three protected picks (one for their child and one for each their 2 pre-selected coaches).
- The Spring draft process does not affect the Fall Season team selections.
Intermediate and Juniors teams will follow the same draft procedures as Majors and AAA above if registration numbers deem it necessary.
Summer All Stars:
Summer All Star teams for the 8-10, 9-11, Majors, Int 50/70, and Juniors division tournaments teams are formed by tryouts under the direction of the MLL Board of Directors. Further information regarding this process can be obtained here.
Baseball Fall Season:
T-Ball, Machine Pitch, and Kid Pitch division teams are formed by the Player Agent. The Player Agent first accommodates coach and teammate requests to the best extent possible and then secondly groups the remaining players by school and/or neighborhood.
